There was a pause in the Great War after the destruction of the Lucifer. However, that peace was short lived when the Shivans began attacking again. This time in larger numbers, and they became swifter, smarter, deadlier.

Cut off from the GTA capital on Terra, all Terran forces outside of Sol eventually were commanded by the new Galactic Terran Command, operating out of Delta Serpentis. Almost all-available resources had to be devoted on ship and weapons construction. In fact, there have been almost no R&D of new ships or weapons by GTC. This new era of the Great War once again became a long, drawn out war the Terrans and Vasudans know all too well about, with systems being contested for weeks to months. However, no one can deny it that though slowly, the Shivans are steadily achieving their goal to destroy everything they encounter.

In an effort to blunt Shivan attacks on the main battlelines, the GTC authorized Operation Cassius, an attack on a quiet part of the border and a diversion of Shivan resources away from the theatres of war. The target: the North Star's system: Polaris. Carrying out this operation is Task Force Cassuis, made up of mostly newly built ships and unfortunately, fresh pilots and crewmen.

Polaris was the guiding star that guided people on Terra away from danger. We pray that it will guide us too. That is will guide us away from fire, pain, destruction, Armageddon, annihilation, and extinction. The Vasudans had their homeworld destroyed. The Terrans are exiled from theirs. The Great War continues.
